Cooked Porkchop in Minecraft: Hunger and Saturation
A cooked porkchop gives the same 8 hunger and 12.8 saturation as steak, tying steak and pumpkin pie for the most hunger of any stackable food. Pigs and hoglins drop raw porkchops, and butchers sell cooked ones.
How much does cooked porkchop restore?
| Hunger | 8 |
| Saturation | 12.8 |
Each hunger point is half a drumstick, so 8 hunger is 4 drumsticks.
How do you get it?
Cook raw porkchops in a furnace, smoker or campfire, or kill pigs or hoglins with fire. Apprentice butchers sell 5 for one emerald, and bastion remnant chests can hold them.
Tips
Piglins pick up cooked porkchops but never eat them. Hoglins in crimson forests are a good Nether food source.
More about cooked porkchop
Raw porkchops restore 3 hunger and 1.8 saturation, so always cook them. Each one taken from a furnace gives 0.35 experience, and tamed wolves can eat and breed with cooked porkchops.
How hunger works
Hunger points refill the hunger bar (20 points, 10 drumsticks), and saturation is a hidden buffer that drains first. With 18 or more hunger, or any saturation, health regenerates naturally; at 6 or less you cannot sprint, and at 0 you take starvation damage. Most foods take 1.6 seconds to eat, and you cannot eat at full hunger except a few special foods. Foods with high saturation keep you healing longer, which matters most in fights. Raw food cooks the same in a furnace, a smoker or a campfire: smokers are twice as fast, and campfires need no fuel at all. See food and hunger and pigs.
