Chorus Fruit in Minecraft: Random Teleport and Purpur

Chorus fruit grows on chorus plants on the End's outer islands. Eating one restores 4 hunger, works even when you are full, and teleports you up to 8 blocks in a random direction, even through walls; it then has a 1-second cooldown. Smelt it into popped chorus fruit to craft purpur blocks and end rods.

Where do you get chorus fruit?

Break chorus plants on the outer End islands, which you reach through an End gateway after beating the dragon. Each plant block has a 50% chance to drop a fruit, and breaking a low block brings the whole tree down. Plant chorus flowers on end stone to grow your own; see End gateways.

How does chorus teleporting work?

  • Up to 16 attempts to find a safe spot within 8 blocks on every axis, like an enderman teleport.
  • It can move you through solid walls, which is great for escaping traps or getting unstuck.
  • It avoids water and lava but can land you on dangerous blocks.
  • Foxes that eat chorus fruit teleport too.

Ender pearls are the aimed version; see ender pearls.

Is chorus fruit used in PvP?

Sometimes, as an emergency escape when trapped, since you can eat it on a full hunger bar. The random landing spot makes it unreliable, so pearls stay the main tool. See PvP terms.
