Carrot in Minecraft: Hunger, Saturation and How to Get It
A carrot restores 3 hunger and 3.6 saturation, plants carrot crops, and is the base of golden carrots, one of the best foods. A grown crop drops 2 to 5 carrots.
How much does carrot restore?
| Hunger | 3 |
| Saturation | 3.6 |
Each hunger point is half a drumstick, so 3 hunger is 1.5 drumsticks.
How do you get it?
Harvest carrot crops in villages or your own farm; Fortune raises the yield. Zombies sometimes drop them, and they turn up in pillager outposts and shipwrecks.
Tips
Carrots breed pigs and rabbits, and a carrot on a stick steers a saddled pig.
More about carrot
Golden carrots, made from a carrot and 8 gold nuggets, restore 6 hunger and 14.4 saturation, the most saturation of any stackable food. Zombies killed by a player have a 2.5% chance to drop an iron ingot, a carrot or a potato.
How hunger works
Hunger points refill the hunger bar (20 points, 10 drumsticks), and saturation is a hidden buffer that drains first. With 18 or more hunger, or any saturation, health regenerates naturally; at 6 or less you cannot sprint, and at 0 you take starvation damage. Most foods take 1.6 seconds to eat, and you cannot eat at full hunger except a few special foods. Foods with high saturation keep you healing longer, which matters most in fights. Raw food cooks the same in a furnace, a smoker or a campfire: smokers are twice as fast, and campfires need no fuel at all. See food and hunger and golden carrots.
