Camel Husks and Parched: Desert Undead (1.21.11)
Camel husks and parched are desert undead mobs added in Mounts of Mayhem (Java 1.21.11). A parched is a desert skeleton that does not burn in sunlight and shoots arrows of Weakness. A camel husk is an undead camel that only appears as a jockey: a husk with an iron spear rides it, with a parched behind. Kill the riders and you can saddle the camel husk.
What is a parched?
- A skeleton variant that replaces 50% of desert skeletons on Java (about a third on Bedrock), spawning at night under open sky.
- Less health than a skeleton, slower shots, and its arrows give Weakness.
- Does not burn in sunlight; takes freeze damage instead of turning into a stray.
- Drops 5 experience, plus its bow at 8.5% (more with Looting).

What is a camel husk?
On Java, when a husk spawns naturally with enough space, it has a 10% chance to arrive as a camel husk jockey: riding a camel husk, holding an iron spear, with a parched as passenger. The camel husk itself is passive and only moves because its rider steers it. It does not burn in sunlight, cannot breed, and counts as both a monster and undead, so Smite hurts it and armadillos hide from it. Spears: the spear. .
Can you ride a camel husk?
Yes: once the riders are dead, put a saddle on it. It rides like a normal camel, carries two players, walks up to about 3.9 blocks a second and sprints at about 8.2, and takes half fall damage after 6 blocks. It heals slowly on its own. See camels and rideable mobs.
Where do they spawn?
Only in deserts, at night or during thunderstorms, and not in Peaceful. A camel husk becomes persistent once a player interacts with it. Update: Mounts of Mayhem.
