Bone in Minecraft: How to Get It and Uses
A bone drops from skeletons and similar mobs. It crafts into 3 bone meal, tames wolves (a one in three chance per bone), and 9 bone meal make a bone block. Bones also come up as fishing junk.
How do you get a bone?
Kill skeletons, strays, bogged and wither skeletons, or fish for them (about 1.1% without Luck of the Sea).
What is it used for?
- Bone meal for crops, saplings and flowers
- Taming wolves
- Bone blocks for decoration
- White dye from bone meal
More about it
Bones cannot tame a hostile wolf or one that is already tame, but a tamed wolf will look at you when you hold one. One bone block crafts back into 9 bone meal, so bone blocks are a compact way to store it. Skeleton horses drop bones too.
Tip
A skeleton spawner turned into a farm gives a steady supply of bones and arrows.
Items and recipes
Most items stack to 64 in one inventory slot; tools, armor, potions and a few others do not stack at all. The recipe book in your crafting screen shows every recipe you have unlocked, and picking up a new item unlocks the recipes that use it. In Creative mode every item is in the creative inventory, and with cheats on the /give command hands you any item by its ID. Items you drop disappear after 5 minutes on the ground, so pick up rare drops quickly. See crafting and wolves.
Does ArtemisPvP have custom items?
