Bedrock Edition PvP
Bedrock PvP has no attack cooldown and uses its own knockback, so the competitive Bedrock style is "spam-click" combat. Popular formats include MidFight, Sumo, Sky Wars, Bed Wars and Bridge duels.
How is Bedrock PvP different from Java?
minecraft.wiki's Bedrock PvP guide describes two combat systems Bedrock players meet. Spam-click combat uses Bedrock's own rules: no attack cooldown and Bedrock knockback, so clicking fast is the main way to deal damage. Crossplay combat happens on servers that bridge Java and Bedrock players, usually through Geyser, and follows Java Edition rules. Knowing which one you are in matters, because the techniques are very different.
Knockback can also vary from server to server, from barely noticeable to game-deciding, but the basic melee methods still apply everywhere.

How do shields work in Bedrock PvP?
A raised shield blocks all melee, ranged and explosive damage in a 180-degree arc in front of you, but it takes a quarter of a second to become active. An axe hit stuns an active shield for 5 seconds, whatever the axe's attack cooldown.
How do you get better at Bedrock PvP?
- Find out whether a server uses Bedrock or Java combat before you fight.
- In spam-click modes, keep your aim on the target while clicking; consistency beats raw speed.
- Practise in Sumo to learn knockback without the damage.
- Carry an axe if shields are allowed.
