Bedrock Achievements: How to Earn Them and What Disables Them
Bedrock Edition has achievements (trophies on PlayStation) tied to your Microsoft account, not to one world. Some world settings turn achievements off for that world forever: Creative mode, cheats, flat worlds, experiments, external behavior packs, Marketplace templates and giving joining players operator rights. Java has advancements instead.
What disables achievements?
- Turning on Creative mode or cheats, even once.
- Creating the world as a flat world.
- Turning on experiments; see experiments.
- Activating external behavior packs; see add-ons.
- Setting joining players to operator.
- Starting from the demo world, a Marketplace template or an Editor project.
Once a world saves with any of these, it can never earn achievements again, even if you switch the setting back.
How are achievements tracked?
Per account and per platform: an achievement earned in one world counts in every world on that platform and account, but does not carry over to other platforms. Your progress is on the Profile screen in game and in the Xbox app; privacy settings can hide it from others. Preview and beta builds cannot earn them.
How are they different from Java advancements?
Java advancements are per world and work even with cheats; Bedrock achievements are per account and give Gamerscore or trophies. Many share names and goals. See advancements and achievements.
Tips for hunting achievements
Keep one clean Survival world just for achievements, never turn on cheats there, and do creative testing in a separate world. Before you change a setting, read the warning popup: it tells you when achievements will be lost. Hardcore worlds on Bedrock still earn them; see Hardcore mode.
Frequently asked questions
