Minecraft /attribute: Change Size, Health and Speed

/attribute (Java only) reads or changes a player's or mob's attributes, such as size, health, speed, reach and jump. /attribute @s minecraft:scale base set 2 makes you twice as big (scale goes from 0.0625 to 16), and /attribute @s minecraft:max_health base set 40 gives 20 hearts. Reset with base reset.

What is the syntax?

  • /attribute <target> <attribute> get shows the total value.
  • /attribute <target> <attribute> base set <value> sets the base value; base reset puts it back.
  • /attribute <target> <attribute> modifier add <id> <value> add_value adds a named modifier, removed with modifier remove.
  • Attribute names lost their generic. prefix in 1.21.2, so old guides using generic.scale no longer work.

Is there /attribute on Bedrock?

No, /attribute is Java only. Bedrock can change some of these with effects or add-ons; see add-ons and /effect.

What can you do with it?

Tiny or giant players for minigames, mobs with boss-level health, speed courses, or longer reach in creative. Equipment can carry attribute modifiers too, given with /give components; see /give.

Does ArtemisPvP have giant mobs?

Yes: Warzone Giants; see Warzone Giants.
