Minecraft Accessibility Settings Explained

Minecraft's Accessibility Settings let you turn on the Narrator and Closed Captions (subtitles for sounds), raise contrast, change text background and chat opacity, slow chat with Chat Delay, and turn down effects that cause motion sickness: View Bobbing, Distortion Effects, FOV Effects, Darkness Pulsing, Damage Tilt, enchantment glint and lightning sky flashes.

Which settings help motion sickness?

Turn off View Bobbing and lower Distortion Effects, FOV Effects and Damage Tilt. Darkness Pulsing helps in the deep dark; see the warden. Many PvP players also turn off view bobbing for steadier aim; see best PvP settings.

How do subtitles help?

Closed Captions show a line for each sound, such as footsteps or a creeper hissing, with an arrow showing which side it came from, so you can play without sound. Music and sound sliders are covered in video settings.

What about Bedrock?

Bedrock has its own Accessibility section in Settings, including text-to-speech, text background, and options for screen effects. See Bedrock vs Java.

Can you turn off flashy effects on ArtemisPvP?

Yes: /toggle has switches for explosion particles, explosion sounds and enchant effects; see Toggles.
