Minecraft update and game drop questions, answered
Since late 2024 Minecraft updates come as smaller game drops several times a year. Here is what each one added and when it came out (Java Edition dates).
What was the Minecraft spring drop 2025?
Spring to Life (Java 1.21.5), released 25 March 2025. It added cold and warm pigs, cows and chickens, and plants such as wildflowers, leaf litter and firefly bushes.
What was the Minecraft summer drop 2025?
Chase the Skies (Java 1.21.6), released 17 June 2025. It added the rideable happy ghast, the player locator bar and craftable saddles.
What was the Minecraft fall drop 2025?
The Copper Age (Java 1.21.9), released 30 September 2025. It added copper tools and armor, the copper golem, copper chests and shelves.
What was the Minecraft winter drop 2025?
Mounts of Mayhem (Java 1.21.11), released 9 December 2025. It added spears, the nautilus, netherite horse armor, the camel husk and zombie horsemen.
What does the cactus flower do in Minecraft?
The cactus flower, added in Spring to Life, grows on top of cacti. It is decorative and can be made into pink dye.

What are the cold and warm farm animals?
Since 1.21.5, pigs, cows and chickens have temperate, cold and warm variants that spawn in matching biomes. Cold chickens lay blue eggs and warm ones brown eggs.
What is the nautilus in Minecraft?
The nautilus is a sea mob added in Mounts of Mayhem (1.21.11). It can be tamed and ridden underwater, and wears nautilus armor.

What was in Minecraft 26.1?
Tiny Takeover (26.1), released 24 March 2026, gave baby mobs new models, added the golden dandelion and made name tags craftable.
It was the first release with year-based version numbers and requires Java 25.
What was in Minecraft 26.2?
Chaos Cubed (26.2), released 16 June 2026, added the sulfur caves biome, the sulfur cube mob, sulfur and cinnabar blocks and an in-game friends list.
What was in Minecraft 26.3?
Wilderness Bound (26.3), released 15 September 2026, added the dappled forest biome with poplar trees, wool and concrete stairs and slabs, and abandoned camps.
What is coming in Minecraft 26.4?
26.4 is the fourth drop of 2026, still in development. It adds ice caves with icicles, the frostbite zombie, ice balls and a Freezing effect.
Features can still change before release. Its first snapshot came out on 22 September 2026.
What is the new biome in 2026?
2026 added sulfur caves (26.2) and the dappled forest (26.3). Ice caves are coming in 26.4.

What is the sulfur cube?
The sulfur cube is a mob added in Chaos Cubed (26.2) that lives in the new sulfur caves biome.
What is the dappled forest?
The dappled forest is an autumn-colored forest biome added in 26.3. Its poplar trees have red, orange or yellow leaves.
Does Minecraft have a friends list now?
Yes. Chaos Cubed (26.2) added an in-game friends list to Java Edition. Bedrock already had friends through the Xbox network.
What was Bundles of Bravery?
Bundles of Bravery (Java 1.21.2), released 22 October 2024, took bundles out of experimental and added baby squid and other changes.
What was The Garden Awakens?
The Garden Awakens (Java 1.21.4), released 3 December 2024, added the pale garden biome, pale oak wood, the creaking and resin.
What is the list of Minecraft updates?
Recent ones: 1.20 Trails and Tales, 1.21 Tricky Trials, then drops 1.21.2, 1.21.4, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.9, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.2 and 26.3.
How often does Minecraft update now?
Mojang now ships several smaller game drops a year instead of one big update, roughly every few months.
When is the next Minecraft update?
The next drop is 26.4, planned for the fourth quarter of 2026. Dates are only certain once Mojang announces the release.
What was Tricky Trials?
Tricky Trials (1.21), released in June 2024, added trial chambers, the breeze, the mace, the crafter and copper bulbs.
What was Trails and Tales?
Trails and Tales (1.20) added archaeology, camels, the sniffer, cherry groves and armor trims in June 2023.
What is Minecraft Live?
Minecraft Live is Mojang's news livestream, held about twice a year, where upcoming drops and features are shown.

Is the mob vote still happening?
No. Mojang ended the mob vote in September 2024. The last winner was the armadillo in 2023.

Do Bedrock and Java get drops at the same time?
Usually yes. Each drop releases on both editions around the same day, though version numbers and small details can differ.
