What pets can you have in Minecraft?

You can tame wolves, cats, parrots, horses, donkeys, mules, llamas, camels, foxes (by breeding) and the nautilus. Allays and happy ghasts can also be befriended.

How do you name a pet?

Rename a name tag in an anvil, then use it on the pet. The name shows above it and stops it despawning.

How do you keep pets safe?

Make them sit at home, fence them in away from mobs, and name them. Wolf armor protects wolves.

How do you find your lost pet?

Pets that are standing teleport to you when you are far away, as long as their chunk is loaded. Sitting pets stay where you left them.

Storage and chests

How do you label chests in Minecraft?

Put an item frame with the item on the chest, or place a sign on it. Item frames work on the front of chests and barrels.

How do you make a double chest?

Place two chests side by side. They join into one large chest with 54 slots.

Why can't I open my chest?

Something solid or a cat is on top of it. Chests need a free space above to open; barrels do not.

Shops and trading

How do you make a shop in Minecraft?

Vanilla has no shop block. Players build stalls with chests and signs and trade by hand; servers use shop plugins with signs or menus.

How do you trade with other players?

Vanilla has no trade window, so players drop items for each other. Many servers add a /trade command.

Mobs

How do you attract creepers?

Creepers come to players in the dark; you cannot lure them with items. Mob farms use dark platforms and cats to steer them.

How do you make mobs follow you?

Hold their food: wheat for cows and sheep, carrots for pigs, seeds for chickens. They follow you while you hold it.

How do you keep mobs out of your house?

Light every block, close doors (iron doors on Hard), and use slabs or fences so mobs cannot spawn or jump in.
