How do you get OptiFine for 1.8.9?
Download the OptiFine build for 1.8.9 from optifine.net, run the installer, then pick the OptiFine installation in the launcher.

How do you install Forge for 1.8.9?
Download the Forge installer for 1.8.9 from files.minecraftforge.net, run it, and choose Install client. A Forge profile appears in the launcher.

Install Forge for 1.8.9, then put mods made for 1.8.9 Forge into the mods folder in .minecraft. Newer mods will not work on 1.8.9.

How do you make potions in 1.8?
Brewing in 1.8 works mostly as it does now: water bottles, nether wart for an awkward potion, then an ingredient. Some newer potions, like Slow Falling, do not exist.

How do you teleport in 1.8?
Type /tp followed by a player name or coordinates, the same as now. Cheats must be on.

No. Shields were added in 1.9. In 1.8 you block by right-clicking with a sword.

Can you join new servers with 1.8.9?
